Missouri Highway 92 is set to re-open Monday. The Missouri Department of Transportation closed the highway on June 19 to allow construction workers to lay asphalt for a new portion of the roadway that routes traffic to a new bridge over Clear Creek. MoDot began construction work in Summer 2008 to erect a new bridge to replace the existing one-lane bridge, which was built in 1933. The new bridge was built just to the south of the old bridge. MoDot, city and area officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, to celebrate the new bridge. Finishing touches on the construction are expected to be completed over the weekend and the bridge should ready for traffic Monday, officials said. The project was originally scheduled for completion in October. Check next week's edition of The Kearney Courier for pictures and more information.
