Because their regularly scheduled meeting fell on Labor Day, a federal holiday, the Kearney Board of Aldermen held their meeting one week early, on Monday, Aug. 31. The meeting was a relatively short one with the aldermen gathering to pass the consent agenda and pay city bills. No ordinances were discussed. The board’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be Sept. 21, when the board will likely discuss the acquisition of Kearney Trust Co.’s branch location west of Interstate 35 and whether to move the police headquarters into the building.
