The Movie Gallery in Kearney should stay open.
Movie Gallery plans to close about 760 stores – including Movie Gallery, Hollywood Video and Game Crazy stores – and the Smithville location is on that list.
“We are closing these because they are not profitable and because funds from liquidating them can help us moving forward,” a press release states.
According to the store locater link on Movie Gallery’s Web site, the Kearney Movie Gallery store, 200 W. Missouri Highway 92, is not scheduled to close.
On Feb. 2, Movie Gallery, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy meaning the company plans to restructure its debt while continuing to operate its business, according to a press release on the company’s Web site.
